A WELCOME ADDRESS WAS DELIVERED BY THE SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE GOVERNOR ON HOUSING AND MORTGAGE DEVELOPMENT, DR. GBOYEGA O. OLONIYO AT THE GRAND BREAKING CEREMONY OF THE NEW ADO EKITI TOWN HOUSING ESTATE ON TUESDAY, 22ND OCT, 2024.

Your Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Your Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye, the Rt Hon.Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Adeoye Aribasoye, Honorable members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Fellow Cabinet members, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen.

On behalf of the Bureau of Housing and Mortgage Development of our dear State, it is a great pleasure to welcome you to this epoch-making and groundbreaking ceremony. It is a milestone that commemorates the second anniversary of our amiable talk-and-do-Governor in office.

Today’s event is aimed at serving two critical purposes; first, to showcase the invaluable historic determination of this administration in making housing available, affordable and accessible in Ekiti; and second, to unveil the potential and strategic re-direction of our government towards Private Public Partnership (PPP) as a veritable tool to assuage the growing challenges of housing needs.

With this gesture, Ekiti is being launched into a hub of modern infrastructure.

Your Excellency and Distinguished Guests you will recall that just three (3) months ago, this location was an unattractive bush. I must commend our partner, Forte Realtors Ltd, under the leadership of Dr Oluwadare Bello, for their speed of delivery that is gradually turning this place into a livable premises of choice.

Despite the challenging macroeconomic reality characterised by cost-push inflation, local currency devaluation, the rising cost of housing construction and the deteriorating discretionary household income, BAO’s administration is poised to fulfil its mandate to the good people of Ekiti State.

It is of note that H.E. Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji at his inception in office, cleared the outstanding remittances to the FMBN to enable contributors to have access to the various loan windows for his people’s home financing in Ekiti.

This is a testament to the visionary leadership in Ekiti, and I commend the quick support we received from our sister MDAs particularly, the Bureau of Lands and the Ministry of Justice.

This housing estate will be a symbol of our collective progress and a beacon of hope for generations to come. This facility will deliver a thousand housing units, an amusement park for Picnickers, a Police post, a Petrol/Gas filling station, a hotel, a school, a church, a mosque, and an event centre in a first-class serene ambience, all in a one-fall swoop.

According to John Scully III, an American businessman, “The future belongs to those who see possibilities before they become obvious”. EKSG in partnership with Forte Realtors Ltd is determined to make an unprecedented statement with this project.

In conclusion, I crave the full cooperation and support of all, as we start this historic journey of a new dawn in Ekiti State.
