Shittu To Lead Maritime Stakeholders At Award Dinner For Customs CG On Thursday

Prince Olayiwola Shittu, former National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and Chairman of Skelas Group, will preside over an award dinner organized by Nigerian Maritime Journalists to honour the outstanding achievements of Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service. The event is scheduled for Thursday at 6 PM at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Awolowo Road, Ikeja, Lagos State.

This much-anticipated gathering will attract prominent figures from the maritime industry, including CEOs of government agencies, leading freight forwarders, ship owners, terminal operators, and shipping line executives.

The Nigerian Maritime Journalists, representing various associations within the maritime sector, have united to bestow the title of “Iconic Maritime Personality of the Year 2024” upon the Customs CG. This collective decision reflects the consensus among maritime media practitioners across print, electronic, and online platforms, spearheaded by several associations, including the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), League of Maritime Editors (LOME), Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON), Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria (SCAN), Online Maritime Media Association of Nigeria (OMMAN), and the Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP), as well as independent journalists.

The maritime media believes that CG Adeniyi has demonstrated exceptional performance since taking office, particularly in areas such as revenue collection, anti-smuggling initiatives, trade facilitation, national security, staff welfare, inter-agency collaboration, infrastructure development, Information and Communication Technology advancements, and Corporate Social Responsibility.
