Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has been recognized with the prestigious 2024 Governor of the Year Award in Agriculture by Independent Newspapers, This honour acknowledges his administration’s significant contributions to agricultural development and food security in the state.
The award was presented during a ceremony in Lagos, with the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, accepting it on behalf of the Governor. in his spoeach, He said, “The Governor is dedicating the Award to the great farmers of Kogi State, who aligned with his policies and interventions to move Kogi State from the state with the highest food inflation in March 2024 to the state with the second lowest food inflation in November 2024. It looked like magic, but it was a product of deliberate government policies that changed the narrative.
This accolade marks the third major award Governor Ododo has received from media organizations this year, reflecting his unwavering commitment to advancing food security and promoting sustainable agricultural practices, as well as fostering the inclusion of women and youth in governance in Kogi State.
The recognition from Daily Independent reaffirms the Governor’s policies aimed at empowering farmers through mechanized farming, enhancing youth and women’s involvement in agriculture, and improving the agricultural value chain within the state.
Governor Ododo’s proactive interventions in agriculture and food security have not only increased food production in Kogi but have also positioned the state as a vital contributor to Nigeria’s agricultural revolution under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Earlier this year, Governor Ododo received multiple accolades, including the Political Personality of the Year Award from The Sun Newspaper, as well as the Governor of the Year Award and the Youth-Friendly Governor Award from the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), in recognition of his dedication to youth empowerment.
These initiatives align seamlessly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, underscoring Kogi’s crucial role in enhancing national food security and promoting an inclusive approach to development.
