Igbo Stakeholders For Ashara; A Heartfelt Appreciation & Kind Plea: Supporting Hon. Mrs. Maureen Ashara for a Second Term
We want to take a moment to sincerely thank the leadership of the APC in Lagos State for giving our sister, Hon. Mrs. Maureen Chika Ashara, the opportunity to serve as the Deputy Vice Chairman of Amuwo Odofin. This chance means a lot—not just to her, but to all of us, especially the Igbo community here in Amowu Odofin. Who among us felt that sense of inclusiveness?
Hon. Mrs. Maureen Chika Ashara has shown us what true leadership genuinely looks like. Since she took on her role, she has worked tirelessly with honesty, fairness, and integrity. She has earned the trust of many community leaders, stakeholders, and ordinary residents alike. She listens, cares, and acts for the good of all, regardless of where they come from—creating a leadership truly rooted in service and inclusiveness.
Recently, in a meeting with Igbo stakeholders—including local leaders, traders, community heads, and youth representatives—we all strongly agreed on one thing: Hon. Mrs. Maureen Chika Ashara deserves a second chance to serve. We believe she is the right person to continue representing our community’s interests and hopes, and to further uplift our people.
To clarify our position, our Igbo group—the Amuwo Odofin Chapter of the Igbo Stakeholders Forum—remains the recognised voice of Ndigbo in this area. Our support for Hon. Mrs. Maureen Chika Ashara has been steady and unwavering.
We also kindly remind the APC leadership in Lagos to focus on engaging with genuine community leaders—people like Hon Maureen Ashara—whose influence is rooted in real community trust and support.
It is vital that those who work with us truly understand our people’s needs and aspirations, rather than engaging with individuals whose influence lacks genuine backing or who are only after personal gains.
We are not asking for support as a favour, but see it as a necessary step—a way to truly give our Igbo community a stronger voice and a clearer sign of inclusion. Leadership is not only her right; it’s a vital opportunity for our community to be heard, respected, and fairly represented.
During a recent press conference, many respected community leaders spoke passionately on her behalf, urging APC to give Hon. Mrs. Maureen Chika Ashara another chance. These leaders, and many others, believe she has proven herself capable and committed in her first term, and that she should be allowed to do even more in her second.
