Veteran broadcaster and journalist Prince Bisi Olatilo was specially honoured on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the prestigious Forum by Ojez. The event took place at Ojez Sports Lounge, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, beginning at 5:00 PM. The ceremony recognised his outstanding contributions to Nigerian media over the past fifty years and featured exciting side performances and attractions, including legendary Sunny Nneji.
Prince Olatilo, the founder of the popular Bisi Olatilo Show (BOS) and Chairman of BISCON Communications, was celebrated as Nigeria’s foremost multilingual broadcaster, fluent in Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo. His journey into the media industry began in 1975 at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). Over the years, he rose through the ranks before launching his own media platform, which has become widely known for elite event coverage and interviews.
During his appreciation speech, Prince Olatilo expressed gratitude to Joseph Odebantu, chairman of Ojez Entertainment, for his exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
He also acknowledged his band, “Unknown Voices,” and urged Nigerians to work hard and approach their craft with dedication. “That you are on TV does not make you a broadcaster,” he cautioned. Broadcasters present unprofessionalism. Broadcasters undergo training that qualifies them to do so. You certainly can be one if you undergo the training —an OAP is not necessarily a broadcaster,” he emphasised, reflecting on his beginnings and the challenges he faced. “It was not easy when I started, but look at me today.” Perseverance and professionalism are the secrets he said.
Prince Bisi Olatilo’s journey began in 1975 at FRCN, and over the years, he built a media empire that remains influential today. His legacy continues to inspire many in Nigeria’s cultural and creative industries.
