Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) in Oshodi, Lagos, where 542 senior Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) were honoured upon their retirement from the Nigerian Armed Forces after 35 years of dedicated service. The cohort comprised 362 soldiers from the Nigerian Army, 134 from the Navy, and 46 from the Air Force.

Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Major General Aligbe Obhiozele of TRADOC, commended the retirees for their unwavering commitment to the nation. He lauded their courage, discipline, and selfless service, emphasising the importance of upholding these values as they transition to civilian life. General Obhiozele also advised the retirees to prioritise responsible financial management and personal health.

Air Vice Marshal Bashir Mamman, Commandant of the NAFRC, highlighted the centre’s role in preparing servicemen for civilian life, noting that over 53,000 personnel have been trained since its inception. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for approving significant improvements to the NAFRC, including enhanced starter packs for retirees and upgrades to training facilities.

The retirees, equipped with newly acquired vocational skills, received their discharge certificates, marking the culmination of their military careers. The ceremony concluded with the solemn lowering of flags, symbolising their formal departure from active service. The event served as a poignant reminder of their contributions to the nation’s defence and security.
