Police Nab 22 Suspects Over killing of 12 Plateau Wedding Guests

Tragedy in Mangu: Wedding Guests Killed in Mob Attack

The Plateau State Police Command has reported the arrest of 22 individuals in connection with the deaths of 12 wedding guests in the Mangu Local Government Area. The victims, travelling from Zaria, Kaduna State, en route to a wedding in Qua’an Pan LGA, were attacked on June 20, 2025, around 9:47 p.m. after reportedly losing their way.

According to police reports, an angry mob intercepted the bus, setting it ablaze. While some passengers perished, seven others sustained injuries. Law enforcement, in collaboration with other security agencies, responded to the scene, rescuing 14 individuals unhurt and evacuating 21 to the hospital for treatment.

Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina visited the site and has deployed personnel from various departments to investigate and apprehend further suspects. The police are urging the public to refrain from vigilante justice and report any suspicious activity. They have also provided emergency contact numbers for the Plateau State Command Control Room. The Command has assured the public that every effort is being made to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
