Shettima Arrives UK To Oversee The Return Of Buhari’s Corpse Back To Nigeria

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in the United Kingdom to coordinate the return of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s remains for his burial in Nigeria.

Shettima’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, announced early Monday morning that the Vice President was received at the hospital in the UK by the Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuff Tuggar.

According to presidential sources, Shettima left Nigeria around midnight on Sunday to travel to the UK.

His arrival was witnessed by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Monday morning.

President Buhari passed away on Sunday after being hospitalised in the UK for a long-term illness.

Before his death, Buhari had been battling unspecified health issues for several years while serving as Nigeria’s president for two terms.

His body is expected to arrive in Nigeria today for the final burial rites, which will be conducted according to Islamic traditions.
