The ongoing trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is set to resume today at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Presiding Judge Justice James Omotosho has imposed strict restrictions on courtroom attendance for this high-profile case. Only a limited list of ten individuals from the defence team and close associates are permitted entry.

Among those approved are eight senior lawyers, including prominent Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) such as Kanu G. Agabi, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, Paul Erokoro, Emeka Etiaba, Mela Audu Nunghe, Dr. Joseph Akubo, Uchenna Njoku, and Aloy Ejimakor. Also permitted are Hon. Obi Aguocha, a member of the House of Representatives, and Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother.

Today’s proceedings are expected to commence at 9:00 am. Following the conclusion of the federal government’s case, the defence has been directed to file its written address on a no-case submission within 14 days.

However, journalists and members of the public are still barred from attending the trial, highlighting ongoing security and procedural restrictions surrounding the case.
