ACOVITEMN Intensifies Nationwide Advocacy for Youth Development and Digital Skills for  better Nigerian 

The Association of Computer Village Technology Merchants of Nigeria (ACOVITEMN) has intensified its nationwide campaign for youth development and digital skills, paying a strategic visit to the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti.

During the meeting, ACOVITEMN leaders highlighted their mission to strengthen partnerships between government and the private tech sector, focusing on training and certifying talented young Nigerians for globally recognised technology careers.

Prince Anthony Nwakeze, President of ACOVITEMN, appealed to the governor for support, emphasising that “when youths are meaningfully engaged and empowered with practical skills, security challenges naturally decline.”

Governor Otti praised the association’s initiative, describing it as “worthy of emulation,” and assured the delegation that his administration is ready to collaborate. He pledged to explore avenues through which the state can support ACOVITEMN’s programs—ranging from skills-acquisition workshops to international certification opportunities.

The Abia visit is part of ACOVITEMN’s nationwide engagement tour, which seeks to encourage federal and state governments to invest more in youth-centred technology training. According to the association, helping Nigeria’s young innovators gain global certifications will not only open doors to international opportunities but also strengthen the country’s digital economy.

ACOVITEMN’s core mission is to urge federal and state governments to give greater attention to youth development and skill acquisition, and to assist talented young Nigerians in earning internationally recognised certifications.

Nigeria’s technology sector continues to expand, yet many young people struggle to access training or gain credentials recognised beyond the country’s borders. ACOVITEMN believes that targeted government partnerships can close that gap—reducing unemployment, spurring entrepreneurship, and boosting national security.

As discussions with the Abia State government progress, ACOVITEMN’s message to policymakers nationwide is clear: empowering youth through technology is no longer optional—it is essential for a safer, more prosperous Nigeria.
