A platform for visibility and action:
WEETS brought together media professionals, stakeholders, and women entrepreneurs in tech to celebrate achievements and chart the next steps for growth, mostly among women. Closing the gender gap:
Speakers addressed the ongoing underrepresentation of women in STEM and discussed practical ways to increase participation in technology, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

From idea to impact:
The summit reinforced that great ideas must evolve into scalable solutions to truly transform communities and promote inclusive growth.

Key Moment

Opening and strategic focus:
Ugochi Emmanuel, convener and CEO of TechLife Media Communications, reminded participants that innovation succeeds when ideas are put into action and supported by strong systems. She noted that scaling a tech journey requires resilience, breaking barriers, and embracing new technologies.

Commitments from national bodies:

• NITDA: Represented by Ijeoma Akande for Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the agency shared initiatives such as ICT empowerment, digital literacy, mentorship, and training for female tech founders — programs that have attracted over 7,000 applicants.

• NCC: Dr Aminu Maida’s team stressed that closing the gender gap is key to achieving inclusive growth.

• Lagos State Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology: Mrs Gbemisola Kayode Bolarinwa noted that women make up only about 17% of Nigeria’s tech professionals, calling for immediate action to improve representation.

Panel sessions and insights:
A panel moderated by Princess Olamide Odeneye brought together experts in HR, coaching, operations, and business development. Panellists — Juliet Njoku, Abimbola Comfort Onwuchekwe, Kesiena Ogheneruru, and Mojisola Alabi — shared actionable strategies for women to grow in tech.

Confidence and personal growth:
Led by Mojisola Alabi and others, this session explored how women can build confidence and leadership through self-respect, self-compassion, self-discipline, and self-preservation.

Emerging tech and inclusivity:
Udeme Ufanga from NIMC discussed the role of women in digital transformation and how global tech trends can create local opportunities in Nigeria.

Awards, culture, and inspiration:
The event featured a review of Ugochi Emmanuel’s book, “The Digital Woman,” celebrating women who write, teach, and lead in the digital space. There were also award presentations and lively entertainment hosted by MC Louisa Olaniyi.
