The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a woman, Ada Clement, for allegedly running a baby factory in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
Five pregnant underage girls were rescued from the facility, and one of them, who had already given birth, is receiving post-natal care.
According to the police, the place was used to keep pregnant girls until they delivered, after which their babies were sold.
During initial investigations, the suspect and some of her accomplices reportedly confessed to the crime. The babies were allegedly sold for between ₦400,000 for female infants and ₦600,000 for male infants.
The case is now being handled by the Gender-Based Violence Unit of the Ondo State Police Command, which is working to arrest other suspects linked to the trafficking ring.
Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a thorough investigation and assured that everyone involved will face prosecution.
