Tension is boiling over in Malumfashi LGA after members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) allegedly shot dead a 60-year-old resident, Alhaji Ibrahim Nagode — father of notorious bandit kingpin Haruna “Fada” Ibrahim — during a late-night operation.

Nagode’s killing comes at a dangerously sensitive moment. His son, Fada, had only just returned to the community under a fragile, heavily criticized peace deal between local bandit factions and affected villages.
The agreement, already viewed with deep suspicion by many residents, may now be on the brink of collapse.

Security sources cited by Zagazola Makama report that joint forces had ramped up patrols across nearby settlements after intelligence warned that armed groups may be silently regrouping. One insider described the increased deployment as “a preemptive move to stop any attempt to sabotage the peace process before it even stabilizes.”

But the operation has now taken a dramatic turn. The Department of State Services (DSS) has detained the CJTF operatives allegedly responsible for the shooting, launching a probe that has sent shockwaves through the community. Fear is spreading that the killing could trigger retaliatory attacks from Fada’s loyalists and unravel the already-shaky truce.
