Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has warned that Nigeria is in a dangerous state and needs the collective effort of all citizens to be saved.

Speaking at a colloquium held in Abuja to mark his 60th birthday, Tambuwal said the country has moved far from the vision and sacrifices of its founding fathers. He stressed that true recovery can only begin when Nigerians admit that something is seriously wrong with the way the country is being governed.

“Our country is in peril and we are looking for salvation. It is a collective process,” he said, adding that honest leadership, responsible governance, and national unity are needed to move the nation forward.

The event was attended by many top political and religious leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio (represented by Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro), Bishop Matthew Kukah, former Speakers of the House of Representatives, former governors, ministers, and party leaders.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, who joined virtually, acknowledged that he had disagreements with Tambuwal when he was Speaker of the House but praised his leadership, saying he was able to hold the House together.

Former Senate President David Mark and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also commended Tambuwal’s leadership and urged him to continue serving the nation.
