The Customs Area Controller of the Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, has urged officers to step up revenue collection, strengthen anti-smuggling efforts, and maintain discipline on the job.

He gave this directive during the command’s monthly parade on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the headquarters in Apapa, Lagos.

Oshoba called for stronger oversight at the terminals to stop revenue leakages while ensuring smooth trade and prompt cargo clearance.

“Officers must protect the reputation of the Service. Any delay by any officer concerning any consignment will not be tolerated,” he said. “If a consignment is cleared, there should be no delay at the gates.”

He also reminded officers to be accessible and professional when dealing with stakeholders.

“You must make yourself accessible to our stakeholders and avoid actions that could damage the good image of the Service,” Oshoba added.

He warned officers to stay alert against smuggling, especially of illicit drugs and prohibited items, and cautioned against misconduct and poor dressing.

Awards for Outstanding Officers

The parade also featured recognition of officers and units who performed exceptionally.

• Assistant Comptroller of Customs Ismail Mohammed was named Most Outstanding Officer of the Month.
• CSC Augustine Ondoma, ASCI Bukola Olaleye, and IC Olalekan Salawu were recognised for professionalism, innovation, and punctuality.
• Officers of APM Terminal received the Excellence Award in Enforcement.
• Officers of EKO SUPPORT Terminal received the Excellence Award for Revenue Generation.

Oshoba explained that the award scheme was designed to encourage hard work, professionalism, and healthy competition among officers and units of the command.
