Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social Thought and Politics, says attacks on Peter Obi have not hurt his popularity because there are no credible corruption or scandal allegations against him.

Obi is the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Amadi shared his views on X on Saturday in response to a debate sparked by Kenneth Okonkwo, an actor-turned-politician, who recently threatened to release damaging information about Obi if his supporters kept attacking him online. An X user, @RealQueenBee, had referenced Okonkwo’s remarks.

Amadi said Obi’s political appeal remains strong because his critics have not presented any factual evidence that could damage his reputation.

“Attacks against @PeterObi don’t stick much because he has little or nothing scandalous or corrupt,” he wrote. “All the other presidential candidates today cannot boast of that record.”

He added that Obi’s popularity is not affected because his traducers are only expressing elitist derision, not bombing him with any factual revelation. “He is still the best available on the presidential slate today.”

Amadi argued that most attacks on the former Anambra State governor are elitist criticism rather than real wrongdoing. He said Obi’s record in public service has protected him from political attacks, and other presidential contenders cannot claim the same level of freedom from corruption allegations.

He insisted that Obi remains the strongest option among current presidential hopefuls and that his popularity continues despite sustained criticism from opponents.
