Ghost Agency Scandal: Video of ‘Fake’ DG Confronting Gbajabiamila Emerges

A video has surfaced showing Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, the man presented as the Director General of a controversial agency the government claims does not exist.

The agency in question — the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council — has been described as a “ghost agency” at the center of a ₦1.3 billion scandal.

In the video, recorded during a press conference in late June 2026, Adeyemi challenged the government’s position that the agency was never established. He pointed to its inclusion in official budget documents as proof of its legitimacy, questioning how it could have been included in financial records without passing through multiple layers of approval.

Adeyemi also claimed the agency operated several accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria. More pointedly, he alleged that Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila had demanded a substantial cut of the agency’s planned funding.

The Presidency has denied the agency’s existence and accused Adeyemi of forgery, insisting he misrepresented himself as a government official. He is currently facing multiple charges, including impersonation, and is challenging the allegations in court. The matter remains under judicial review.
