Gunmen attacked the convoy of Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the Osun State APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Oyebamiji. The attack happened in the Ede South Local Government Area on Sunday evening.

Mrs. Oyebamiji was leaving a political event in Alajue Ward 2, where she had met with residents and party supporters ahead of the state’s August 15 governorship election. She was accompanied by Princess Bukola Adereti, wife of the APC deputy governorship candidate, Alhaji Kayode Adereti.

The assailants, about 15 in number, struck around 7 p.m. as Mrs. Oyebamiji was departing the venue.

Both Mrs. Oyebamiji and Princess Adereti escaped without injury. However, one person in the convoy sustained serious wounds. The victim, the Chairman of the NURTW Sekona Branch, suffered severe head injuries and was taken for medical treatment.
