The Nigeria Customs Service’s Lilypond Export Command recorded strong growth in the second quarter of 2026, with export value rising 24.35% to over $792.5 million—up from about $599.6 million in the same period last year.

The increase is credited to improved trade facilitation, better compliance with export procedures, and efforts to diversify the economy.

Monthly exports showed steady gains throughout the quarter:

• April: $274.8 million
• May: $275.9 million
• June: $241.8 million

Agricultural exports rose significantly, while manufactured goods more than doubled, jumping from $120.3 million to $350.7 million.

Not all sectors grew, though. Solid mineral exports dropped sharply from $91.2 million to $7.2 million—a move that aligns with government policy encouraging local processing.

Elsewhere, statutory revenue from NESS grew by 9.52%, but revenue from the 2.5% Export Surcharge fell by 36.24%.

Comptroller Ariyibi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to efficiency and smoother export processes in the future.
