Ahead of the Apapa Chapter election of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), the association’s founder, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, has donated N2 million to the two main contestants, Umeadi and Emeka, as logistical support for the election.

Aniebonam announced the donation in a statement, saying it was meant to help both contestants prepare properly for a credible and transparent election.

He also declared that litigation, avoidable petitions and other activities capable of disrupting the electoral process must end, and urged all contestants and voters to focus on the coming election.

According to the statement, NAGAFF President Tochukwu Emmanuel Ezisi is determined to ensure the Apapa Chapter election is transparent, credible and people-oriented.

“There must be an end to litigation and avoidable petitions. All contestants and voters must now prepare for the election,” the statement said.

Aniebonam warned that any group that tries to distract or undermine the process would no longer be tolerated, and that further distraction would attract immediate expulsion from NAGAFF without further notice.

He also cautioned national officers, board members and members of standing committees at the NAGAFF national headquarters against meddling in the Apapa Chapter election or openly backing any contestant. Anyone found interfering or openly supporting a candidate, he said, would be relieved of their responsibility and expelled from the association.

The measures, he explained, are needed to prevent further division and to preserve NAGAFF’s unity as “one large happy family.”

“Enough is enough for acts capable of dividing the one large happy family of NAGAFF,” he declared.

Aniebonam added that a new electoral guideline for the Apapa Chapter election would soon be released from the office of the National President. The guideline is expected to provide a fresh framework for the election and guide contestants, voters and other stakeholders ahead of the exercise.
