African Farmers and Cultural Organization (AFCO) Delegation Visits Gambia

On May 12, 2025, a delegation from the African Farmers and Cultural Organisation (AFCO) left Nigeria to attend an important conference in Banjul, Gambia.

The Nigerian team was led by Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Aguene Art Foundation, and President of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo in Lagos State. Other notable members include:

  • Mrs. Rita Daniels, a well-known Nollywood actress and global women leader of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo
  • Dr. Anita Bernarb, Delegate and Secretary
  • Mr. Olufemi Okonofua, Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and AFCO Media Director
  • Prince Chuks Moses Esiole, AFCO President
  • Mr. Sunday Meje Thomas, AFCO Delegate Member

On May 13, the team met with Seedy S.K. Njie, the Deputy Speaker of the Gambian Parliament. The following day, May 14, Chief Solomon Aguene led the delegation to meet with Gambian President Adama Barrow.

The trip will conclude on May 15 with a roundtable discussion between AFCO representatives, the Gambian President, and government ministers. They will discuss plans for an upcoming African Producers and Cultural Festival scheduled to take place in Banjul in 2025/2026.
