The Coalition of Civil Society Networks has lauded the recent reforms by  Tincan Comptroller  Frank Onyeka,  championed by Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, which have led to a remarkable surge in revenue generation at Nigeria’s Tincan Island Port. In the first half of 2025, the port command reported an impressive revenue of N747.08 billion, marking a 29.85% increase compared to N575.36 billion during the same period in 2024.

The coalition highlighted that this figure accounts for approximately 98.03% of the command’s projected revenue target, underscoring the effectiveness of the ongoing reforms.

Amb. Abdullahi Ibrahim, the coalition’s coordinator, expressed his commendation in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that these achievements align strongly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasised that the reforms reflect a deliberate effort to reposition key institutions to foster innovation, economic prosperity, and stability across Nigeria.

The coalition praised the leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), particularly under the current stewardship of the Comptroller-General, for prioritising technical expertise and deploying officers strategically at revenue points. Ibrahim attributed the success to measures that effectively block leakages, curtail economic sabotage, and create a more business-friendly environment at Nigeria’s ports.

“We commend the Customs leadership for their commitment to professional excellence and responsible governance, which is evident in the significant strides made in revenue collection and institutional reforms,” Ibrahim stated. “Their efforts are instrumental in advancing Nigeria’s economic growth and national development.”

The coalition urged the Customs Service to maintain this momentum and encouraged other government agencies to follow suit by prioritising national interests above personal or political gains.

As part of its ongoing commitment, the coalition reiterated its dedication to monitoring, supporting, and engaging government institutions to ensure good governance and effective service delivery.
