The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has handed over a container of expired raw materials to NAFDAC and announced a strong revenue performance for 2025.<\/p>\n
Customs officers intercepted a 20-foot container carrying 440 bags (25kg each) of Triple Pressed Stearic Acid imported from Indonesia. The goods, valued at about N36.5 million, were found to be close to their expiry date during routine examination. Because such items pose health risks and violate import regulations, the container was detained, forfeited, and handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for proper disposal.<\/p>\n
In another operation at the Joliz Terminal, a 40-foot container falsely declared as zipped luggage was found to contain empty suitcases. The goods had a duty-paid value of about N5.01 million. Customs said the seizure shows its zero tolerance for false declarations and smuggling.<\/p>\n
On revenue, the KLT Area Command recorded N147.2 billion in 2025, a 35 percent increase from N107.1 billion in 2024. The figure also exceeded its annual target of N109.4 billion. Acting Controller, Deputy Comptroller Bolaji Adigun, said the growth was driven by stronger enforcement, improved compliance, and better revenue collection strategies.<\/p>\n
NAFDAC\u2019s Chief Regulatory Officer, Ogunjimi Oluwaseun, received the expired materials and said they would be destroyed after investigation.
