Firefighters Battle Inferno At Amuwo Odofin Estate In Lagos<\/h1>\n

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident on Saturday, stating that firefighters were already at the scene battling the blaze.<\/p>\n

In a brief statement, the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, assured residents and business owners that the situation was under control and urged the public to remain calm.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to a Fire outbreak at Amuwo Odofin Industrial Estate, Mile 2, Lagos,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re assuring the public that we\u2019re currently on top of the situation as the public need not to exercise fear.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adeseye added that emergency responders were continuing operations at the scene<\/p>\n

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire and the extent of damage had yet to be ascertained.<\/p>\n

In a related development, SaharaReporters reported on Tuesday that a raging fire gut one-storey commercial building on Somoye Osundairo Street in the heart of Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos State, destroying computers and accessories worth millions of naira.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that the inferno, which broke out in the early hours of Tuesday, affected a building largely used by dealers in computers and related accessories, further compounding fears over recurring fire incidents in the nation\u2019s biggest technology hub.<\/p>\n

According to a preliminary incident report issued by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), distress calls were received via the 767\/112 toll-free emergency lines at about 1:55am, prompting the immediate activation of the state\u2019s emergency response plan from its Command and Control Centre in Alausa, Ikeja.<\/p>\n
