The Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Lagos has shown its commitment to community development and youth empowerment with the launch of a new sports facility in Ibafon, Lagos.<\/p>\n

The facility, named the Wale Adeniyi Sports Arena (WASA), was built as part of the Command\u2019s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. The Comptroller-General of Customs officially commissioned it, Dr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, Dr Adeniyi described the project as more than just a sports centre. He said it is a smart investment in promoting peace, preventing crime, and creating opportunities for young people.<\/p>\n

The modern sports arena is designed to provide a safe space for recreation, talent development, and positive youth engagement. It is expected to host local leagues, training sessions, and community events.<\/p>\n

.\"\" \"\"Earlier\"\" \"\" \"\", the Customs Area Controller of the Western Marine Command, Comptroller Patrick Ntadi, described the sports arena as a corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at promoting youth development, community engagement, curtailing crime among youths, and fostering sustainable peace.<\/p>\n

Ntadi said the facility was named in honour of Wale Adeniyi, a former National Public Relations Officer of the Service, in recognition of his dedication, professionalism, and exemplary service.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that the arena would provide a safe platform for youths to engage in constructive activities, helping to steer them away from crime, drug abuse, and other social vices.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecurity is not only about enforcement; it is also about prevention. By providing safe spaces for recreation and mentorship, we are investing in peace, stability, and the future of our community,\u201d Ntadi said.<\/p>\n

The CAC urged community leaders and stakeholders to take ownership of the facility to ensure its proper utilisation and maintenance.<\/p>\n

The commissioning ceremony was attended by senior customs officers, Apapa Command:<\/strong>\u00a0Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba<\/strong>, <\/span>Tin Can Island Command:<\/strong>\u00a0Comptroller Frank Onyeka<\/strong>, (PTML) Command Comptroller Joe Anani, <\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>representatives of security agencies, the Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, <\/strong>community leaders, and youths from the host communities.<\/p>\n

According to officials, the initiative will help strengthen the relationship between the Customs Service and the community while giving young people constructive activities to focus on.<\/p>\n
