Former Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has been killed in an alleged joint Israeli\u2013US airstrike, according to Iran\u2019s semi-official Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) report on Sunday.<\/p>\n

It was reported that the strike targeted Ahmadinejad\u2019s residence in the Narmak district of northeast Tehran, killing him along with several members of his security detail.<\/p>\n

International media sources suggested the strike likely occurred late Saturday, though independent confirmation has not been immediately available.<\/p>\n

Ahmadinejad served as Iran\u2019s president from 2005 to 2013. Before his presidency, he held key positions, including governor of Ardabil Province and mayor of Tehran.<\/p>\n

Following the completion of his two presidential terms, he was appointed by then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to the Expediency Discernment Council, a 48-member advisory body that advises the Office of the Supreme Leader and mediates disputes within Iran\u2019s governing institutions.<\/p>\n
