The Rivers State House of Assembly has rejected four commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.<\/p>\n
The nominees were screened on Monday at the State Assembly in Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n
Those confirmed include Mr Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr Peters Nwagor, Mr Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.<\/p>\n
Those rejected are Professor Datonye Alasia, Mrs Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, and Otonye TKD Amachree.<\/p>\n
The Assembly said Professor Alasia was rejected as a commissioner nominee due to \u201cpoor performance\u201d.<\/p>\n
Alasia is the immediate past Chief Medical Advisory Committee, CMAC, of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH.<\/p>\n
For Amachree, the Assembly alleged that more than 11 petitions were written against him by members of his community over his involvement in community matters.<\/p>\n
Deemua was also not confirmed because she failed to present tax clearance documents, according to the lawmakers.<\/p>\n
Williams stepped down for allegedly \u201cmisleading the public about the activities of the Assembly\u201d.<\/p>\n
