He also praised the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture for sustaining the trade fair as a platform for business growth and international engagement.

As part of the push to increase cargo traffic and strengthen capacity, the NPA revealed plans to rehabilitate key eastern ports, including Onne, Warri, and Calabar. The authority also highlighted support for the development of new deep-sea ports in the region, with the goal of attracting more vessels and improving shipment frequency.

A major focus of the reform agenda is the establishment of Export Process Terminals (EPTs). According to Dantsoho, these terminals are designed to remove the burdensome nature of exporting Nigerian goods by creating a one-stop location for activities such as cargo consolidation, stuffing, documentation, packaging, certification, and onward shipment. The intent is to reduce delays, inefficiencies, and duplications that have historically weakened Nigeria’s export competitiveness.

To further improve efficiency, the NPA is also implementing the National Single Window (NSW) system. Dantsoho described this as a move toward full automation that reduces human interface and helps eliminate underhanded dealings. He said NSW is globally recognised for connecting stakeholders across the trade value chain, enabling smoother interactions “at the push of a button.”

In addition, the NPA plans to link the Export Process Terminals with Domestic Export Warehouses in collaboration with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and other partners. The aim is to strengthen connections between ports and the hinterland, creating more export opportunities for businesses across the country.

Dantsoho assured stakeholders that the NPA is ready to partner with investors and exporters, reiterating that the authority is committed to linking value creators even from remote parts of Nigeria to demand markets around the globe.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has unveiled a new strategy aimed at boosting Nigeria’s non-oil exports by improving port infrastructure, simplifying export processes, and automating port operations.
