The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Kabiru Nuhu, for allegedly setting his 60-year-old father on fire in Kazaure Local Government Area of the state.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Confirming the incident in a statement on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Shi\u2019isu Adam, said, \u201cThe investigation so far indicates that the suspect poured a suspected petroleum substance on the victim and set him on fire.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, the incident occurred on April 1, 2026, at about 6:30 am in Magama Quarters, Kazaure town.
\nHe explained that the police received a distress report from one Lokon Malamai, which prompted officers to move quickly to the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe victim was found in critical condition, while the suspect also had fresh burns and injuries on his forehead, arms, and toes,\u201d Adam added.<\/p>\n

The injured father was rushed to a nearby hospital but later died while receiving treatment.<\/p>\n

Adam further disclosed that Kabiru Nuhu has been taken into custody and will be charged with patricide. He said the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further investigation and prosecution.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, Haruna Yahaya, condemned the act and called for calm, saying, \u201cWe are working to establish the motive behind the attack, and justice will be served.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also urged residents of the state to resolve disputes peacefully and report early warning signs of domestic violence to security agencies.<\/p>\n
