Nigerians will protest oppression in the morning\u2026 and celebrate it by evening.<\/p>\n

Read that again.<\/p>\n

We cry about bad governance, abuse of power, oppressors and a system that silences people. Yet, the moment that same pattern shows up in a different form\u2014just wearing the face of social media activism\u2014we applaud it.<\/p>\n

That contradiction is exactly what\u2019s playing out in the clash between VeryDarkMan (VDM) and Blord.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s strip away the noise and deal with facts.<\/p>\n

A self-acclaimed activist, VeryDarkMan, traveled all the way to China\u2014and instead of \u00a0facing the influencing job he went for or exposing systems, policies, or institutions hurting Nigerians, he chose an individual.
\nWithout any prior public provocation from Blord, he called out his brand, labeled him a cheat and a thief, and urged Nigerians to boycott his business.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not \u201cactivism.\u201d That\u2019s a direct hit on someone\u2019s livelihood.<\/p>\n

Call it what it is: when you publicly accuse a business of fraud without proven legal backing, you are stepping into libel and defamation territory. You are not \u201cspeaking truth to power\u201d\u2014you are exercising power over someone.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s where it gets uncomfortable.<\/p>\n

Instead of asking, \u201cWhat really happened first?\u201d many Nigerians rushed to celebrate the downfall of Blord when legal consequences started showing up. No context. No questions. Just vibes and outrage.<\/p>\n

And you have to ask\u2014why?<\/p>\n

Is it envy? Bias? Tribal sentiment? Or are we just addicted to public takedowns?<\/p>\n

Same injustice VDM claim to be fighting is what his displaying, no proven conviction, no guilt found and his remanded for 26days<\/p>\n

Because if we\u2019re being honest, the dangerous precedent here isn\u2019t about Blord or VDM\u2014it\u2019s about what we are choosing to normalize.<\/p>\n

Today, it\u2019s someone you don\u2019t like. Tomorrow, it could be you.<\/p>\n

If your goal is to fight for the common man, then build solutions. If goods are cheaper in China, import them. Compete. Crash the prices. That\u2019s real impact. That\u2019s real disruption.<\/p>\n

But targeting individuals while ignoring the actual system? That\u2019s not bravery\u2014it\u2019s strategy. And a convenient one at that.<\/p>\n

We all know why the real targets\u2014the government, broken policies, and structural failures\u2014are rarely confronted head-on. Because that comes with real consequences. Real risk.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s easier to go after a businessman than a broken system.<\/p>\n

Blord, for his part, didn\u2019t immediately take the legal route many expected. Maybe he saw it as online banter. Maybe he underestimated the intent. Maybe he chose restraint at first.<\/p>\n

But let\u2019s not pretend both sides are equal from the starting line.<\/p>\n

When someone publicly brands your business a scam and tells people to avoid you, your first instinct is defense\u2014legally or otherwise. That\u2019s human. That\u2019s expected.<\/p>\n

Does that justify every reaction that followed? No.<\/p>\n

But context matters.<\/p>\n

Because if we ignore how things begin, we will always misjudge how they end.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s an old saying: \u201cDon\u2019t start what you can\u2019t finish.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not because others are right\u2014but because there are always people willing to go further than you ever planned.<\/p>\n

The real issue here isn\u2019t just two individuals clashing. It\u2019s a society that cheers destruction when it\u2019s entertaining, then cries oppression when it turns on them.<\/p>\n

You cannot normalize reputational attacks today and expect protection tomorrow.<\/p>\n

The same weapon you celebrate will eventually be used against you.<\/p>\n

So before you pick a side, ask yourself one simple question:<\/p>\n

Are you defending justice\u2026 or just enjoying the spectacle?<\/p>\n

Because there\u2019s a difference.<\/p>\n

And one of them will cost you eventually.<\/p>\n
