{"id":11069,"date":"2026-04-13T04:55:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T04:55:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=11069"},"modified":"2026-04-13T04:55:40","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T04:55:40","slug":"ndlea-arrests-ivorian-and-nigerian-doctor-over-alleged-cocaine-trafficking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2026\/04\/13\/ndlea-arrests-ivorian-and-nigerian-doctor-over-alleged-cocaine-trafficking\/","title":{"rendered":"NDLEA arrests Ivorian and Nigerian doctor over alleged cocaine trafficking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of Nigeria\u2019s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested an Ivorian man and a Nigerian medical doctor over allegations connected to cocaine trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>According to the NDLEA, the Ivorian suspect,\u00a0Gohouri Michael (41), was arrested at\u00a0Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport\u00a0during passenger clearance on an\u00a0Ethiopian Airlines\u00a0flight bound for\u00a0Milan, Italy, via\u00a0Addis Ababa.<\/p>\n<p>The agency said Gohouri had allegedly ingested\u00a082 wraps of cocaine, weighing\u00a01.49kg. NDLEA stated that he arrived in\u00a0Lagos from Milan\u00a0on\u00a0January 17, 2026, and spent three weeks shuttling between Lagos and Enugu. He later travelled to\u00a0Kano, stayed there for a week, and then ingested the cocaine consignment in his hotel room.<\/p>\n<p>NDLEA also claimed that intelligence linked Gohouri to a hidden coordinator who gave him instructions on how to move the cocaine through the airport. Further investigations led to the arrest of a\u00a069-year-old medical doctor, Dr Chudi Ofomata, in\u00a0Ogun State.<\/p>\n<p>The NDLEA said operatives tracked the doctor to his residence in\u00a0Magboro, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, where he was arrested on\u00a0March 27, 2026. The agency added that he was later flown to\u00a0Kano\u00a0on\u00a0April 7.<\/p>\n<p>At the point of arrest, NDLEA reported recovering\u00a063 grams of promazepam\u00a0and\u00a0seven ampoules of promethazine injection\u00a0from Dr Ofomata.<\/p>\n<p>The NDLEA said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and those collaborating with them.<\/p>\n<p>Other NDLEA operations and seizures<\/p>\n<p>The NDLEA also reported arrests and seizures in other parts of the country, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lagos:\u00a0Officers intercepted a luxury bus belonging to\u00a0Chisco Transport\u00a0and recovered\u00a015kg of skunk, leading to the arrest of two suspects.<\/li>\n<li>Abia State:\u00a0A nonagenarian,\u00a0Pa Friday Ahukanna Chigbu, was arrested after\u00a07.7kg of skunk\u00a0was found at his residence.<\/li>\n<li>Ogun State:\u00a0NDLEA said\u00a0three suspects\u00a0were arrested with\u00a034kg of skunk.<\/li>\n<li>Imo State:\u00a0A\u00a026-year-old woman\u00a0was arrested with\u00a056.2kg of skunk.<\/li>\n<li>Niger State:\u00a0A couple,\u00a0Abdullahi Umar (32)\u00a0and\u00a0Adama Umar (25), were arrested after 118kg of skunk\u00a0was recovered from their home.<\/li>\n<li>Borno State:\u00a0Officers intercepted a trailer carrying\u00a0Rohypnol tablets,\u00a0codeine syrup, and\u00a0pentazocine injections, resulting in the arrest of the consignment owner.<\/li>\n<li>Mushin, Lagos:\u00a0The NDLEA reported seizing\u00a026,800 bottles\u00a0of codeine-based syrup and arresting two individuals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of Nigeria\u2019s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested an Ivorian man and a Nigerian medical doctor over allegations connected to cocaine trafficking.
