Suspected terrorists have launched a fresh attack on a military camp in Kemanji community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three soldiers.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

The assault reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, sending panic across the area as heavy gunfire echoed through the community.<\/p>\n

Sources who spoke with journalists said the assailants stormed the camp without warning at about 3 am, catching some of the soldiers off guard.<\/p>\n

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the attack as sudden and violent.<\/p>\n

\u201cFew of the soldiers were asleep around 3 am today when the terrorists invaded their camp and killed three of them before others launched a reprisal attack,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the source said.<\/p>\n

The attackers were said to have engaged troops in a fierce exchange of gunfire, resulting in casualties on the side of the military.<\/p>\n

Although details of losses on the part of the attackers remain unclear, security operatives reportedly mounted a counter-offensive to repel the assailants.<\/p>\n

The source noted that the community’s location may have contributed to the attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cKemanji is a border community\u2026 so there are thick forests around the place,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said, highlighting the security challenges in the area.<\/p>\n

The latest incident has raised fresh concerns over the security situation in border communities in Kwara State, where dense forests are believed to provide cover for armed groups.<\/p>\n
