{"id":1140,"date":"2024-06-11T11:35:23","date_gmt":"2024-06-11T11:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=1140"},"modified":"2024-06-11T11:35:41","modified_gmt":"2024-06-11T11:35:41","slug":"tinubu-never-built-lagos-says-lamido","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2024\/06\/11\/tinubu-never-built-lagos-says-lamido\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu Never Built Lagos \u2013 Says Lamido"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido\u00a0 has dismissed the highly praised title of President Bola Tinubu as the architect of contemporary Lagos State.<\/h4>\n<p>Recall that Tinubu was the Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 and over the years, him and his supporters have ascribed the success of Lagos to him.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu\u2019s supporters and many other Nigerians believe the former governor established the groundwork for a modern Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>However, Lamido, former Governor\u00a0 argues that Lagos was already a capital with significant federal government involvement prior to its relocation to Abuja. Nigeria build Lagos not Tinubu he siad.<\/p>\n<p>He faulted Tinubu\u2019s administration at the national level for failing to achieve success.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI know him when he was under SDP; when he was the secretary of the party. I also knew him as governor of Lagos State. I know him very well and I know his capacity, I know what he can do; I know he cannot do. Luckily today, he is there on top of the country. He never built Lagos,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Lamido said on Monday\u2019s edition of Channels Television\u2019s Politics Today.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cLagos was built by Nigerian money- I mean the port, the airport, the bridges. So, when you say Tinubu built Lagos; he never built Lagos,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>the former Governor stated.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu became president in May 2023, his administration has implemented a series of changes, such as the removal of fuel subsidy, increase of electricity traffic\u00a0 and allowing the naira to fluctuate.<\/p>\n<p>These actions have led to a significant rise in the price of petrol, a surge in living expenses, and record inflation rates.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Tinubu government\u2019s request for patience from the Nigerian people and its confidence in the eventual benefits of these policies, Lamido has given a negative assessment of the current government.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe government is doing almost everything wrong,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Lamido said on the current affairs show, faulting the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project amid the clamour for a new minimum wage by organised labour.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, if the government embarks on the project and prudently manages resources, Nigeria can easily pay a new minimum wage as demanded by labour leaders.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThere is money in Nigeria.
