Boko Haram insurgents have attacked a Nigerian Army base along the Mandara\u2013Buratai Road in Borno State. At least eight soldiers were killed and several others wounded, according to military sources.<\/p>\n
A source at the base confirmed that the attack happened in the early hours of Friday during heavy rainfall.<\/p>\n
“162 Battalion Mandara Buratai Road, eight soldiers were killed in action. They attacked us at 4 a.m. today (Friday) when it was raining,” the source said.<\/p>\n
Another military source told SaharaReporters that the attackers overran parts of the facility and carried out a brutal assault on the troops stationed there.<\/p>\n
“They killed eight soldiers and beheaded them. Several others were injured during the attack,” the source said.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the terrorists stormed the military position in large numbers, catching the troops off guard under the cover of the bad weather.<\/p>\n
Security sources said reinforcement teams have been deployed to the area. Efforts are ongoing to assess the full extent of casualties and recover the base.<\/p>\n
Graphic footage and images from the scene have confirmed the scale of the incident, though officials have yet to release an official statement.<\/p>\n
This latest attack is part of a troubling pattern.
