Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Government Day Secondary School in Kautikari Village, Chibok Local Government Area, Borno State, on Saturday evening. They set fire to a block of five classrooms and a staff office. One person was killed during the attack.<\/p>\n
The incident happened around 6:45 p.m. Education Secretary of Chibok LGA, Malah Kyari, confirmed the affected section was the junior secondary school.<\/p>\n
“I can confirm that the insurgents attacked the Kautikari community yesterday, killed one person, and set ablaze one block containing five classrooms and an office at Kautikari JSS,” Kyari said.<\/p>\n
Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, also confirmed the attack, saying security forces fought back and pushed the attackers away.<\/p>\n
“They attacked Kautikari village, where they burnt two classrooms at Government Day Secondary School and killed one person, a man. The suspected insurgents faced strong resistance from joint security forces, averting further losses. As of now, the area is calm and intensive patrols are ongoing,” Daso said.<\/p>\n
Local sources said the terrorists arrived on motorcycles in large numbers, with the school as their main target. Many residents fled their homes for safety. The man who died was killed as the armed group entered the community.<\/p>\n
