The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched a nationwide sensitisation drive to educate the public about the new Green Tax Surcharge and related fiscal changes, which officially come into effect on July 1, 2026.<\/p>\n
The initiative is designed to promote environmental sustainability and reduce carbon emissions by encouraging the importation of cleaner, more eco-friendly vehicles.<\/p>\n
The awareness event, held at the Apapa Area Command, brought together Customs officers, freight forwarders, and other industry stakeholders. The goal was to ensure everyone clearly understood the new policy before implementation.<\/p>\n
Zonal Coordinator Mohammed Babadende stated that the campaign is aimed at helping stakeholders stay well-informed, which will in turn encourage compliance and ensure uniform application across all ports.<\/p>\n
