The Tin Can Island Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has hit a new revenue high. Under the leadership of Comptroller Joe Anani, the command collected N135,588,777,000 in July 2026.<\/p>\n
That’s a jump of more than N19.5 billion compared to the same month last year, when the command brought in about N116 billion.<\/p>\n
What’s behind the growth? Officials point to stronger revenue drives and better compliance monitoring. But there’s more to it than numbers.<\/p>\n
Anani’s approach to management stands out. He favours transparency and open dialogue over confrontation. That shift has encouraged voluntary compliance among traders and stakeholders. As trust improved, so did trade confidence and overall efficiency, which in turn drew larger volumes of trade through the port.<\/p>\n
The result positions Tin Can as a key maritime gateway in Nigeria.
