LAGOS:<\/strong> Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria has marked 15 years of its technical skills development programme with the graduation of 20 young Nigerians<\/strong> from the Flowergate Technical Training Centre, reinforcing the company\u2019s commitment to youth empowerment and vocational skills development.<\/h3>\n

The programme, established in 2011 at Nestl\u00e9\u2019s Agbara Factory, is part of Nestl\u00e9 Needs YOUth<\/strong>, the company\u2019s global youth initiative launched in 2013 to equip young people with skills, experience and opportunities for meaningful employment.<\/h3>\n

Since its establishment, the Nestl\u00e9 Technical Training Centre has trained 309 young Nigerians<\/strong> across its three locations in Agbara, Flowergate and Abaji<\/strong>.\"\"<\/h3>\n

The programme has attracted an investment of more than \u20a66 billion<\/strong> and offers an intensive 18-month curriculum combining classroom-based learning with practical engineering and technical training.<\/h3>\n

Participants receive training in areas including food technology, engineering and manufacturing operations<\/strong>, preparing them for the demands of today\u2019s industrial environment.<\/h3>\n

The programme culminates in the internationally recognised City & Guilds of London Technicians\u2019 Certification<\/strong>, giving graduates an additional qualification to improve their employment prospects in Nigeria and beyond.<\/h3>\n

Nestl\u00e9: Investing in Nigeria\u2019s Next Generation<\/h3>\n

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Wassim Elhusseini, Managing Director and CEO of Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria<\/strong>, said the initiative reflects the company\u2019s purpose of improving quality of life while creating opportunities for future generations.<\/h3>\n

According to him, the programme has, over the past 15 years, helped create a strong pipeline of technical talent while strengthening capabilities within Nestl\u00e9\u2019s operations and the wider industry.<\/h3>\n

He reaffirmed the company\u2019s commitment to expanding opportunities and equipping more young Nigerians with the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the country\u2019s industrial development.<\/h3>\n

Also speaking, Shakiru Lawal, Country Human Resource Manager, Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria<\/strong>, highlighted the broader impact of the company\u2019s youth development initiatives across Central and West Africa.<\/h3>\n

Lawal said the programme focuses on unlocking the potential of young people through skills, practical experience and pathways to employment.<\/h3>\n

She disclosed that 98 per cent of graduates move into employment within Nestl\u00e9<\/strong>, making the technical training programme an important talent pipeline for the company.<\/h3>\n

She added that the initiative demonstrates Nestl\u00e9\u2019s commitment to creating shared value by combining industry knowledge, practical skills and meaningful employment opportunities.<\/h3>\n

Graduate: Training Built More Than Technical Skills<\/h3>\n

The valedictorian of the graduating class, Samuel Oladokun<\/strong>, said the programme had transformed the graduates beyond technical training.<\/h3>\n

He noted that the experience strengthened their discipline, confidence, teamwork and professionalism while preparing them to operate effectively in demanding industrial environments.<\/h3>\n

Oladokun expressed appreciation for the opportunity and said the graduates were leaving the centre prepared to build their careers and contribute positively to their communities and workplaces.<\/h3>\n

Community Leaders Commend Nestl\u00e9<\/h3>\n

His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land<\/strong>, who was represented at the ceremony, commended Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria for the programme\u2019s positive impact on communities and reaffirmed local support for initiatives focused on youth development.<\/h3>\n

Professor Abayomi Adelaja Arigbabu, Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology<\/strong>, also praised Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria for supporting government efforts in youth empowerment and skills development.<\/h3>\n

Other dignitaries at the ceremony included Antoinette Arkoh<\/strong>, Regional Human Resource Manager, Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria; Hon. Wasiu Isiaka<\/strong>, Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports; and Conny Camenzind<\/strong>, Consul General of Switzerland.<\/h3>\n

Representatives from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment, the Nigerian Employers\u2019 Consultative Association (NECA) and the Alliance for Youth initiative were also present.<\/h3>\n

The stakeholders commended the progress of the technical training programme and reaffirmed their support for its continued success.<\/h3>\n

The Nestl\u00e9 Technical Training Initiative remains a key component of Nestl\u00e9 Needs YOUth<\/strong> in Nigeria, which focuses on developing young people\u2019s skills and improving their employability.<\/h3>\n

Other programmes under the initiative include the Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria Youth Development Programme, Nesternship and Alliance for YOUth<\/strong>, all designed to create pathways for young Nigerians to gain relevant skills, experience and employment opportunities.<\/h3>\n
