David Umahi, Nigeria’s Minister of Works, has initiated legal action worth N2.5 billion against three parties over publications he describes as defamatory.<\/p>\n
The lawsuit, filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on August 24, 2026, names Stella Ifeoma Okengwu, prominent blogger Linda Ikeji, and Linda Ikeji TV Limited as defendants.<\/p>\n
According to the filing, the case stems from content published between March 2025 and March 2026 which Umahi claims falsely accused him of bribery, corruption, sexual misconduct, and being unfit for public office.<\/p>\n
Through the suit, Umahi is requesting a formal court ruling that the publications are defamatory, an order requiring their removal from all platforms, and a public apology from the parties involved.<\/p>\n
Beyond this, he is seeking N500 million in general damages, N2 billion in exemplary damages, and N500 million to cover legal costs. He has also asked the court to add post-judgment interest at an annual rate of 10 percent.<\/p>\n
