Former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello has been urged to humble himself and report to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
\nBello\u2019s political rival Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central said Bello who has been hiding behind a Kogi High Court judgement to resist arrest, must respect the laws of the land.
\nBello has been accused of misappropriating public funds and a N8Ob money laundering scheme by the EFCC.
\n\u201cI was surprised to hear that Yahaya Bello shunned the invitation from the EFCC, despite having served as Kogi\u2019s former chief security officer,\u201d said Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.
\n\u201cAs a former governor, he should understand the importance of respecting Nigeria\u2019s laws and constitution.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s a well-known fact that \u2018he who comes into equity must come with clean hands.
\n\u201cAs such, I advise him to honour the invitation and clear his name while he still has the chance.
\n\u201cI\u2019d also like to take this moment to appreciate the diligence of the EFCC in handling the case so far.
\n\u201cNo Nigerian is above the law, and therefore the agency must see this case through to the end if they are to gain the trust of both Nigerians and the international community in the fight against corruption.\u201d
