The Defence Head Quarters has warned that citizens sharing pictures of Brigadier General MS Adamu in connection with the alleged maltreatment of Seaman Abbas Haruna may be sued.<\/h3>\n

The warning was contained in a statement on Monday signed by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau.<\/p>\n

The statement titled \u201cRe: Brigadier General MS Adamu\u2019s pictures and connection with Seaman Abbas Haruna case\u201d advised citizens to allow the committee set up by the Chief of Defence Staff to investigate the case.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It read: The Social media has been again washed with the pictures of a serving senior officer Brigadier General Ms Adaum alleged to be connected to the case of Seaman Abbas Haruna. For the records, Brigadier General MS Adamu, whose pictures are being used, is in no way connected to the case of Seaman Abbas.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Defence Headquarters wishes to seize this opportunity to call on the general public to allow the committee set up by the Chief of Defence Staff, General\u00a0 Christopher Gwabin musa to conclude its findings without prejudice to public opinion. Defence Headquarters appeals to the public to refrain from <\/em>comments that are particularly false and capable of infringing on the fundamental human rights and privacy of the senior officer.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe senior officer has the right to seek legal action against any person or organization that posts his picture(s) in connection with seaman\u00a0 \u00a0Abass case.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe military authority continues to assure Nigerians of its total commitment to the rule of law. We will do everything possible to get to the bottom of the case, and the public will be duly notified about the outcome.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
