One Gideon Simon has been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment in Jos, Plateau State, for stealing one standing fan, one 12 spring mattress and a gas cylinder all valued at N300,000.<\/p>\n

Simon was sentenced by An Area Court in Jos after he pleaded guilty to the offence.<\/p>\n

However, the court gave the convict an option of a N300,000 fine or go to prison for 24 months in the alternative.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp. Monday Dabit told the court that the case was reported at the B Division Police Station, Jos on Aug.5 by one Mr Godwin Odugbo.<\/p>\n

He said the convict trespassed into Odugbo\u2019s home and stole a standing fan, one 12 spring mattress and a gas cylinder all valued at N300,000.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor told the court that during the police investigation, the convict confessed to having committed the offence and the stolen items were recovered from the convict.<\/p>\n
