The case was adjourned to January 29, 2025,\u201d the tweet read.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/14.0.0\/svg\/1f4b8.svg\" alt=\"\ud83d\udcb8\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The court ruled that the surety must possess a landed property and adjourned the matter to January 29, 2025, for further proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Farotimi was taken to court by Chief Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, after being arrested by operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command in Lagos and immidetely took him to Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Babalola, 95, accused Farotimi of defaming him in a book titled Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.<\/p>\n<p>The arrest sparked outrage across the country, prompting civil society organizations and the Nigerian Bar Association to call for the activist\u2019s release.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has granted a lawyer and human rights activist, Dele Farotimi a N50 million bail.
