Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa has been impeached.<\/h3>\n

Obasa was impeached on Monday for gross misconduct and abuse of office.<\/p>\n

According to the report online, the lawmaker representing Apapa Constituency I\u00a0 in the Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Meranda, has become the new speaker following Obasa\u2019s impeachment.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has distanced itself from speculations and endorsements related to the 2027 governorship election, stating that such discussions are premature and not on its agenda.<\/p>\n

There had been speculations that Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, have governorship ambitions.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0an interview with Daily Trust, the APC\u2019s State Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, attributed the unfolding drama to opposition parties attempting to create unnecessary controversy.<\/p>\n

Oladejo said,\u00a0\u201cThe party has not spoken about the 2027 election. This is the time for impactful governance, not needless politicking to heat the polity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He\u00a0added that there is no clash between Seyi Tinubu, Obasa, or any other potential aspirants within the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot recall any part of the speaker\u2019s speech that drew a battle line with Seyi Tinubu or anyone else. This is simply the opposition trying to play up the situation to create unnecessary sentiment,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n

Oladejo also emphasised that the party focuses on its forthcoming congress and local government elections in 2025, urging members to prioritise unity and progress<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
