{"id":3681,"date":"2025-01-13T18:05:12","date_gmt":"2025-01-13T18:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=3681"},"modified":"2025-01-13T18:05:20","modified_gmt":"2025-01-13T18:05:20","slug":"female-passenger-who-stopped-ibom-air-flight-to-abuja-over-luggage-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2025\/01\/13\/female-passenger-who-stopped-ibom-air-flight-to-abuja-over-luggage-arrested\/","title":{"rendered":"Female Passenger Who stopped Ibom Air flight to Abuja over luggage Arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content-wrap\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"container layout-2-col layout-2-col-1 layout-right-sidebar post-template-1\">\n<div class=\"row main-section\">\n<div class=\"col-sm-8 content-column\">\n<div class=\"single-container\">\n<article id=\"post-286732\" class=\"post-286732 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail category-consumer tag-ibom-air tag-michael-achimugu tag-ncaa single-post-content has-thumbnail\">\n<div class=\"entry-content clearfix single-post-content\">\n<p>The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed legal action against an unnamed female passenger who obstructed an Abuja-bound Ibom Air flight, vowing she will face the full extent of the law.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Micheal Achimugu, disclosed this on Monday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"vdbugn vdbugn-post-inline vdbugn-float-center vdbugn-align-center vdbugn-column-1 vdbugn-clearfix no-bg-box-model\">\n<div id=\"vdbugn-187519-138791926\" class=\"vdbugn-container vdbugn-type-custom_code \" data-adid=\"187519\" data-type=\"custom_code\">\n<div class=\"clever-core-ads\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Recall that an unruly passenger last Wednesday disrupted Ibom Air flight operations scheduled to depart Uyo for Abuja International Airport at 1730hrs and prevented its takeoff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE <\/strong>passengers had been informed during check-in that, due to weight restrictions, some or all of their luggage may not arrive on the same flight.<\/p>\n<p>The airline said passengers with luggage above 20kg signed indemnity forms while those whose bags were in the region of 20kg were informed that their bags would arrive on the next scheduled flight.<\/p>\n<p>The aggrieved passenger noticed that her bag was not among the luggage loaded into the bowels of the aircraft and then angrily stepped down from the aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>She asked to be allowed to pick up her handbag from the cabin, only to get in there and block the aisle, insisting that the flight would not depart without her bags, according to the NCAA.<\/p>\n<p>In a fresh update, Achimugu disclosed that the passenger would face prosecution and be penalised.<\/p>\n<p>Achimugu disclosed, \u201cThe regulations state firmly that no provocation justifies violence at the airport. Certain acts, especially holding up the movement of an aircraft through means of violence, could be interpreted as terrorism depending on the severity (to be determined by the police).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was taken to the police and was in detention for two nights. She has been charged to court but granted bail.
