Kehinde Joseph (Alimosho II) said what happened at the House was an injury to democracy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"mvp-post-main-out left relative\">\n<div class=\"mvp-post-main-in\">\n<div id=\"mvp-post-content\" class=\"left relative\">\n<div id=\"mvp-content-wrap\" class=\"left relative\">\n<div class=\"mvp-post-soc-out right relative\">\n<div class=\"mvp-post-soc-in\">\n<div id=\"mvp-content-body\" class=\"left relative\">\n<div id=\"mvp-content-body-top\" class=\"left relative\">\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\" class=\"left relative\">\n<h2>The Department of State Services (DSS) has clarified its involvement in the security takeover of the Lagos State House of Assembly, stating that the Assembly requested its presence.<\/h2>\n<p>In a statement on Monday, the DSS explained that it acted on a letter from the Assembly dated February 14, 2025, which sought additional security due to potential threats.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1304679\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The letter, signed by Acting Clerk Mr. A.T.B. Ottun, cited credible intelligence suggesting plans to forcefully reinstate the impeached Speaker on February 18, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>It stated,\u00a0<em>\u201cThe impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly plans to resume office on the 18th of February, 2025, posing a potential security threat to the Assembly and its members. In light of this situation, we kindly request that you take necessary measures to fortify the security of the Assembly premises with effect from Sunday, 16th February 2025, by increasing the presence of your men and observing strict access control within and outside the Assembly premises till further notice.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>The DSS noted that its deployment was to ensure order and protect Assembly members, emphasizing that its actions were based on the lawmakers\u2019 request and not driven by external influence, DSS Assures the Public Of Neutrality<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This development follows days of tension at the Assembly, where legislative workers clashed with security personnel amid the ongoing leadership tussle between Speaker Mojisola Meranda and impeached Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.<\/p>\n<p>The DSS reiterated its commitment to upholding security and order without bias.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria State \u00a0services on 17th Feb invaded the Lagos State House of Assembly \u00a0in an attempt to stop the lawmakers from sitting.
