The Coordinator, of Operation Safe Corridor, OPSC, Brigadier General Yusuf Ali, has disclosed that 22 repentant terrorists have been transferred to the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Maiduguri, for further evaluation and management.<\/p>\n

Ali stated this during a stakeholder\u2019s meeting at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

According to him, a total of 825 persons were transferred to the rehabilitation camp to commence training.<\/p>\n

\u201cBetween July and November 2024, a total of 825 clients were transferred to the camp to commence training.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmongst them are 14 foreigners from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad and Niger.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is also important to mention that 22 clients were subsequently transferred to the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Maiduguri for further evaluation and management,\u201d Ali said.<\/p>\n

He added that the purpose of the gathering, in line with the directive of the Chief of Defence Staff\/National Chairman of OPSC, was to work out modalities for the smooth transfer of the clients presently in the camp to their national and state authorities for re-integration after graduation in March 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpecifically, at the end of this meeting, it is expected that we will have achieved the following milestones: All stakeholders will be fully abreast with activities of OPSC and the DRR Programme in particular.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe state authorities and the MDAs would know in specific terms, the roles they would play in the transfer as well as the re-integration process of the clients.<\/p>\n

\u201cIdentify and recommend in specific terms affordable resettlement package for the clients and assign responsibility to relevant MDAs to provide.<\/p>\n

\u201cDetermine the mode community sensitization, camp visitation and community service programmes would take. Ratify the graduation date and initiate arrangements for the ceremony,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Since the commencement of the programme in 2016, OPSC has successfully processed 2,190 clients, comprising 2,163 Nigerians and 27 foreign nationals from Cameroon, Chad and Niger.<\/p>\n
