{"id":4333,"date":"2025-02-19T18:44:48","date_gmt":"2025-02-19T18:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=4333"},"modified":"2025-02-19T18:44:48","modified_gmt":"2025-02-19T18:44:48","slug":"two-suspected-killers-of-anambra-lawmaker-escape-from-police-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2025\/02\/19\/two-suspected-killers-of-anambra-lawmaker-escape-from-police-custody\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Suspected Killers Of Anambra Lawmaker Escape From Police Custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"section-inner\">\n<div class=\"post-content detail-grid grid-alignright grid-allow-pullout\">\n<p><strong>Two suspects linked to the murder of Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra House of Assembly, have escaped from police custody in the state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Ikenga said the state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, received a report on Tuesday that two of the suspected killers had escaped from custody.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the two suspects who were assisting police operatives had gone out with the operatives for an investigation to arrest a receiver of vehicles used by the criminal gang.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the onslaught operation by the operatives, the suspect (the receiver) was arrested and two vehicles suspected to have been snatched from the unsuspecting members of the public were recovered,\u201d Ikenga said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, the other two suspects fled the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Command\u2019s spokesman stated that the CP has deployed \u201chuman, operational, and intelligence assets\u201d to re-arrest the suspects.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the commissioner also ordered \u201cimmediate disciplinary action\u201d against officers found wanting in the escape of the suspects.<\/p>\n<p>This comes about two weeks after a joint security team found the lawmaker\u2019s decomposing body at Second Niger Bridge in Onitsha, Anambra State.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker was abducted by gunmen on December 14, 2024.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<section class=\"light\">\n<div class=\"container py-2\"><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"related-posts\">\n<section class=\"site-sections related\">\n<div class=\"posts posts_sumrys row\">\n<article class=\"post post__default post__sumry sumry__vert size-md sumry__valign-none col-md-6 col-lg-4 \">\n<div class=\"sumry-inner\">\n<div class=\"sumry-body\">\n<div class=\"post-content sumry-content\">\n<h3 class=\"post-title sumry-title\"><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two suspects linked to the murder of Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra House of Assembly, have escaped from police custody in the state.
