{"id":447,"date":"2024-05-02T15:07:57","date_gmt":"2024-05-02T15:07:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=447"},"modified":"2024-05-02T15:08:00","modified_gmt":"2024-05-02T15:08:00","slug":"presidency-faults-organised-labour-over-%e2%82%a6615000-minimum-wage-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2024\/05\/02\/presidency-faults-organised-labour-over-%e2%82%a6615000-minimum-wage-demand\/","title":{"rendered":"Presidency Faults Organised Labour Over \u20a6615,000 Minimum Wage Demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-body-top\" class=\"left relative\">\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\" class=\"left relative\">\n<h2>The Presidency has said the N615,000 minimum wage demanded by organised labour is unrealistic and not feasible.<\/h2>\n<p>Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero, had said\u00a0 the organized labour had proposed N615,000 as the new minimum wage to the federal government.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3\">\n<div id=\"v-naijanews-v1-0\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n<div id=\"_vdo_ads_player_ai_24752\" class=\"vdo_video_unit vdo_floating\">\n<div id=\"vdo_logo_parent\">\n<div id=\"cross_div\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n<div id=\"vdo_ai_cross\" class=\"cross\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, Ajaero said the proposed minimum wage was based on an analysis of the current economic situation and the needs of an average Nigerian family of six.<\/p>\n<p>However, in a chat with The Punch, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the Federal Government cannot pay the proposed minimum wage demanded by the labour unions.<\/p>\n<p>The presidential aide added that the parties must agree on an amount feasible for the government and the private sector to pay or the current negotiation impasse would continue.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201c<em>It is an open affair. The NLC President, Ajaero, told the public today they were asking for N615,000 per month as minimum wage. So, where will the money come from? Do we have that kind of money to pay?
