It\u2019s the fastest response I\u2019ve ever had from the prime minister.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, he announced \u00a313.4 billion of additional defence spending yesterday. This morning, his defence secretary said the uplift is only \u00a36bn. Which is the correct figure?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Responding, Starmer said he never saw her proposal before putting out the figure.<\/p>\n<p>According to Starmer: \u201cI\u2019m going to have to let the leader of the opposition down gently. She didn\u2019t feature in my thinking at all. I was so busy over the weekend I didn\u2019t even see her proposal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s appointed herself, I think, the saviour of Western civilisation.
